8 Dec 2007 - Friendly matches against Gloucester Stars

Two matches were set up against players from Gloucester County. The first was a closely contested Men's match which ended in a 5-4 win for Solihull & Shirley. Tom Whitehouse & Andy Pattie took 2 rubbers. Martin Pratt & Seb Drury played superbly took take a rubber to leave Joe Hulse & Matt Dejesus to take the decider. In the other match based on the format that will be used in the Badminton England cup, Solihull & Shirley were dominant in the doubles but unfortunately lost the three singles played. S & S finished with a 6-5 win. Pairings of Rob Forrester & Di Ollivent, Mick Ollivent & Katie Johnson, Andrew Wainwright & Vanessa Ballesteros and Dave Moynihan & Charlotte Kennedy all took part in the win. It is hoped to take part in a return next year.
