1 Sep 2007 - Dave Clarke Trophy 2007

17 mixed pairs took part in the 4th Dave Clarke Mixed Badminton tournament held in Dave's name who sadly past away over 3 years ago. He was regularly playing the Warwickshire County Veterans & for Solihull & Shirley Badminton Club and played right up to a few weeks before his sudden death. He managed to reach the quarter finals of the All England in his hey day & will always been fondly remembered for his great sportsmanship & the knowledge he passed on.
It was a hard fought contest with Rob Forrester & Debbie Darkes, both from Solihull & Shirley beating Jan Fil & Katie Johnson from the same club, 21-12 in the semi-finals to come through to the final. John Hudson & Di Ollivent, also from Solihull & Shirley, beat Phil Baker (Jubilee) & Sue Lee (Monsoon) 21-18 in the other semi-final which could have gone either way. John & Di regained their crown after beating Rob & Deb 21-12 in the final.
Thanks must go to all participants who made this such an enjoyable tournament & it is hoped to hold another event at the same time next year.
