There were several teams playing in the Solihull Badminton League on Sunday.
Knowle & Lighthall were in a hard-fought battle to keep out of the relegation place in the Men's 1st division. Knowle ending up beating Lighthall 5-1 in this close contest.
Poplar Men's 1st team look firm favourites to win this division after beating Solihull & Shirley in an enthralling match. Poplar finished the match winning 5-1. The score did not reflect how close the match was with 5 of the 6 rubbers going to 3 games and setting in most of them. Alan Wong, Steve Kiernan, Keith Fenwick and Paul Davies were members of the winning team in a match that lasted a mammoth 4 1/2 hours.
In the Combined 1st division, Solihull & Shirley Combined 2nd team took pole position after beating JCBS 5-1. County juniors Jess Hogan & Charlotte Kennedy were in superb form to help team captain Andrew Kitching & Paul Harris replace the Solihull & Shirley 1st team's position at the top of the table.
