Solihull and Shirley Badminton Club - Yonex Performance Centre

 

The aims and objectives of the club are to: -
· Play and promote badminton in Warwickshire
· Offer badminton coaching and competition opportunities to all junior members & adult members
· Provide duty of care and protection to all club members
· Make sure all club members are treated equitably

 

We are a friendly badminton club based in Solihull and welcome league standard players as well as juniors wishing to improve. We play in both Birmingham & Solihull Leagues and enter the Badminton England Cup. We are proud to be a premier club & are now been confirmed as a PERFORMANCE CENTRE by Badminton England.

Performance Centres will play a major role as BADMINTON England strives to be the world's best badminton nation by 2016. 

Solihull & Shirley will receive £10,000 funding a year for three years to help in the identification of raw talent and the development of players, both on and off court, and ultimately aim to produce players capable of medal success.  The Performance Centre programme will help to create an increased pool of talent which will not only underpin, but has the potential to increase and challenge for places on the World Class & Start Potential programmes.

LEAGUE TEAMS

This season we have 10 teams in the Solihull League and 7 teams in the Birmingham League. We have several teams in the new Solihull Singles' & Junior Leagues this season. We have teams in all the first divisions of both leagues.

JUNIORS

It's great to see that the juniors are now taking places in our top teams!
We hope with the development of the performance centre to be promoting more juniors into the County & England cell set-up.

TOURNAMENTS

Every year we organise a trip to Bad Soden-Salmuenster in Germany to participate in the Sprudel Cup tournament. We will be returning again on the 22nd August '09 to defend our title.

This is one of the many tournaments that the club run. We were recently involved in running the first ever Solihull Singles' League Tournament - please see photo gallery & match reports for further details.
